Know your message - what idea are you trying to sell?

BEFORE WE BEGIN:  Whether you are creating new content or sharing existing content, you must always be diligent in checking your facts!  You don't want to get snoped...

Canada recognizes individual human rights and includes the right to live free from discrimination yet we know discrimination and violation of human rights is a global problem, including here in Canada.  Using historical cliches and stereotypes, Bulgarian designer Yanko Tsvetskov has created an "Atlas of Prejudice" based on a project called "Mapping Stereotypes."

Each person has a different way of looking at the world, but these views are...

According to Tsvetskov's satirical map, when Spaniards think of Germany, it's a...Tsvetkov also mapped out the stereotypes of gay men. Spain is where the bears...

Official policy on multiculturalism in Canada adopts the idea of cultural pluralism rather than assimilation and the Government of Alberta's website states:
We are committed to creating a society where you feel welcome and can participate in all aspects of life while maintaining your traditions. Alberta's culture includes not only the arts, but also our heritage, diversity, recreation and the natural environment.
Your message or personal mandate should be clear and concise with a well-defined outcome.

It is important for Canadian youth to promote messages of multiculturalism via social media to combat xenophobia and discrimination so that all persons feel safe, accepted, respected, understood, and dignified regardless of age, ability, race, culture, heritage, or religion.

Not all Canadians feel that multiculturalism is beneficial. This man is part of your audience.  How are you going to frame your message so that he will feel his voice is being heard?

For 2 long years I left America
and moved to the great white north of Canada
to see if things there would be better
for people like me, people who have my colour.
Toronto's the most diverse place on earth
but there's still lots of dark people that's picking up dirt
and when you talk to them you find out where it hurts
cause in their home country they were doctors and lawyers

Canada's living under the illusion that everyone's getting along
even though they're clearly not equal, so that's why I wrote this song.

I don't believe in Multiculuralism
I think it's just a front for colonialism
we never address the root problems in our society
we just dress them up, we make them seem pretty.

Let me get this straight , so for 500 years
you terrorize the world and fill people with fear
then a couple of them manage to get over here
and when they fight for the front , you push them to the rear
You can't blame a man for tryingn to claim his space
but when he fights for his rights , you tell him he has no place
and when I try to explain , you call me a racist, but
DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT THE DEFINATION IS!!??!?!!

Never think the status quo is always here to stay, no,
It's not fooling me, so that's is why I say, oh.

I don't believe in Multiculuralism
I think it's just a front for colonialism
we never address the root problems in our society
we just dress them up, we make them seem pretty.

FUNDAMENTAL
STRUCTURAL CHANGES
IN OUR SOCIETY
NEED TO HAPPEN
OR OTHERWISE IT'S GONNA BE
THE SAME OLD BULLSHIT
HAPPENING OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN

WHen I watch BET I wish for something smarter
cause i don't see much on there for me that it can offer
could it be BET is just lining the coffers
of the people whose goal is to keep my people paupers
In corporate advertizements you see throngs
of people of all colours getting along
but when you go inside there's only white people within
but they want to look PC, so they photoshop them in.

I don't believe in Multiculuralism
I think it's just a front for colonialism
we never address the root problems in our society
we just dress them up, we make them seem pretty.

  1. Thanks for sharing the I don't believe multicultuilism video. I think I'm going to use it as an intro for a workshop soon. Its a great way for me to show youth that I wan't to hear their voice, and more important I want community leaders to here their voice even, if we don't agree with what they have to say. - Cus that's the point!
